Who makes it
Actonic Products GmbH builds, sells and supports Data Protection Toolkit. Actonic is an Atlassian Marketplace vendor based in Wiesbaden, Germany (c/o Seibert Group), and is ISO 27001 certified. Besides the app, Actonic provides support, onboarding for Data Center to Cloud migrations, and custom detection rules built free of charge.
Why we built it
We run our own work in Jira and Confluence, and when GDPR arrived we hit the same wall our customers did. Personal data turned out to be everywhere: names and email addresses in issue descriptions, phone numbers in comments, customer details pasted into pages. Jira and Confluence could anonymize a user account, but not the content around it, and cleaning that up by hand was slow, easy to get wrong and impossible to prove to an auditor.
So we built the tool we needed ourselves. It launched as GDPR (DSGVO) and Security and is now Data Protection Toolkit: GDPR, PII & DLP, available for Jira and for Confluence.
Who uses it
Hundreds of organizations across five continents run Data Protection Toolkit, from single teams to 60,000-user Data Center instances, across banking, healthcare, telecoms, aerospace, retail and the public sector. Customers include Deutsche Telekom, T-Mobile US, Commerzbank, Lufthansa Systems, Athenahealth and Dropbox.
It is built for Data Protection Officers, IT security managers, compliance teams and Atlassian administrators in regulated environments.
